Facelift / Necklift
Conveniently located to serve Baltimore and Towson.
A facelift/necklift in Baltimore and Bel Air, MD, rejuvenates the face and neck by reducing sagging skin, lifting, and tightening weakened muscles of the face and neck.
Why Do People Get Facelifts/Necklifts?
The natural aging process causes loss of elasticity of the skin. As we are exposed to the sun and pollutants, deeper wrinkles start to form. The effects of gravity cause underlying facial muscles in the cheeks and neck to become loose. Skin folds appear on the cheeks, and fatty tissue can appear around the neck and jowls, causing the jawline to lose its definition.
Weakened platysma muscles of the neck separate and form a “turkey wattle.” We accumulate sagging and wrinkled skin on our necks. We may also be struggling with the appearance of an unwanted double chin. A facelift (rhytidectomy) and neck lift performed in our Baltimore plastic surgery facility can reduce these signs of aging.Learn More
What Can a Facelift/Necklift Do?
A facelift/neck lift in Bel Air, MD, can rejuvenate the face and neck by reducing sagging skin, lifting and tightening weakened muscles of the face and neck, and removing excess fat underneath the skin, which smoothens out and improves wrinkles. This combination procedure can reduce the look of jowls and can address persistent muscle banding in the neck.

Featured Before & After
How to Prepare for a Facelift/Necklift
During your consultation, you will receive special instructions to help you prepare for your facelift/necklift procedure.
You will need to quit smoking for at least four to six weeks before the procedure. Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 48 hours as well.
To prevent excessive bruising, stop taking anti-inflammatory medication, anticoagulants, and herbal supplements before the date of your procedure as directed.
The initial recovery period will require you to restrict your movement, so before the facelift/necklift procedure, accomplish all necessary household chores. Request time off from work in advance.
Getting good-quality sleep can help facelift/necklift patients experience a quick and smooth recovery. To ensure that you’ll have proper support, arrange enough pillows on the bed in advance.
On the day of your procedure, take a full bath with mild soap and shampoo, since you will need to avoid soaking in water for at least 48 hours after the surgery. This will also keep your skin and hair free of harsh chemicals before the procedure.
A rhytidectomy paired with a neck lift surgery may be performed on an outpatient basis. It can take up to several hours to complete. First, anesthesia is administered in order to ensure the patient comfort for the duration of surgery.
Small incisions will be made around your ears and might also be made under your chin; this gives Dr. Sultan access to the underlying tissues.
Proper aftercare can greatly affect the results of a facelift/necklift. Carefully following the directions of Dr. Sultan will help avoid infection and maintain the lift created during the surgical procedure.
To ensure a full recovery after a facelift/necklift, take time off from work as directed. Desk work can typically be resumed after one week. Those with physically strenuous jobs may need to request time off for a longer period.
Wear the recommended compression garments. This will help speed up recovery, manage swelling or bruising, and reduce discomfort.
When sleeping, lie down on your back and provide enough angle for the upper body, neck, and head. This will help reduce swelling.
Pain medication will also be prescribed to manage pain. Take the medication as directed by Dr. Sultan.
Avoid heavy exercise and other physically taxing activities for four to six weeks.
How Much Does a Facelift Cost?
The cost of a facelift varies from patient to patient depending on the unique needs of each individual. Factors we take into consideration are the current degree of sagging skin, the corrections you’d like to make, and the overall complexity required to achieve the desired results. Dr. Sultan will develop a fully customized surgical procedure and discuss the associated cost during your consultation.
